Hangar Direct Insurance Requirements
At Hangar Direct, we prioritize the safety and security of all users on our platform. To ensure a secure environment for both hangar owners and aircraft owners, we require that all parties maintain appropriate insurance coverage. Please note that Hangar Direct does not provide, supply, or is involved with the selling or providing any insurance to either aircraft owners or hangar owners. Both aircraft and hangar owners must provide insurance to Hangar Direct upon request.
1 - Aircraft Owners (Renters):
Proof of Insurance: Aircraft owners must provide proof of insurance upon request. This ensures that in the event of damage or incidents involving the aircraft, appropriate coverage is in place.
Recommended Coverage: While specific coverage requirements may vary, it is advisable for aircraft owners to maintain liability insurance with limits that adequately cover potential damages or injuries. Additionally, hull insurance is recommended to cover physical damage to the aircraft. For comprehensive guidance on aircraft insurance, refer to the Aircraft Owner’s Insurance Checklist provided by Avemco.
2 - Hangar Owners:
Proof of Insurance: Hangar owners must provide proof of insurance upon request. This ensures that the hangar structure and its contents are protected against potential risks.
Recommended Coverage: Hangar owners should consider the following types of insurance:
Hangar Structure Insurance: Protects the physical structure of the hangar against damages from events such as fire, storms, or vandalism. Given the lightweight construction of many hangars, this coverage is essential.
Hangar Keepers Liability Insurance: Provides coverage if an aircraft is damaged while in your care, custody, or control. This is particularly important for hangar owners who offer storage services to others.
General Liability Insurance: Protects against claims of bodily injury or property damage occurring on the hangar premises.
3 - Additional Considerations:
Verification: Hangar Direct may request proof of insurance from both aircraft and hangar owners to ensure compliance with these requirements.
Compliance: It is the responsibility of both aircraft and hangar owners to maintain valid insurance coverage throughout the duration of their engagement on the Hangar Direct platform.
Liability: While Hangar Direct facilitates connections between hangar owners and aircraft owners, we are not a party to any rental agreements and do not assume liability for damages or incidents that occur. Users are encouraged to review our for Terms of Service for more information.
4 - Please Note:
For personalized advice and to ensure adequate coverage, it is recommended to consult with an aviation insurance professional. Organizations such as the Experimental Aircraft Association (EAA) offer specialized hangar insurance plans tailored to individual needs.
By adhering to these insurance requirements, Hangar Direct aims to foster a secure and reliable environment for all users, promoting trust and safety within the aviation community.
